# Support
Loft is a player for your own media account. It does not include, sell or point to any channels, films or series; you add the account your provider gave you.
## Adding a source
Loft works with Xtream accounts. You need three things, all from your provider's welcome email:
- Server address, like
http://example.com:8080. The portal or panel address, not a
playlist link.
- Username
- Password
Settings ▸ Sources ▸ Add Source. On Apple TV you can scan a code with your phone and type on that instead.
A server address beginning http:// rather than https:// sends your password unencrypted. Loft warns you before saving one. That is your provider's choice, not something the app can fix.
## Playback
MP4 plays directly. MKV, AVI and TS are converted on the device as they play, which is why they take a moment to start.
Some things cannot be played on Apple devices at all:
- DTS and TrueHD audio. If a film has no other audio track it plays silently, and Loft
says so rather than pretending.
- Blu-ray and DVD picture subtitles. Text subtitles work, including those inside a
Matroska file.
## Your data
Everything stays on your device. Nothing is sent to us, because there is nowhere to send it to: Loft has no account and no server of its own.
Optional iCloud sync (Settings ▸ iCloud) keeps your devices in step through your own iCloud account, encrypted end to end. Your catalogue is not synced; each device fetches its own from your provider. Your provider login travels through iCloud Keychain and stays there.
Settings ▸ Export Library writes a backup of your favorites, watchlist, lists and history that you can put back on any device.

## Something wrong?
Write to loft@abishevs.dev. Telling me what you were doing, what happened and which device you were on turns a slow exchange into a quick one.
